Ruby D at Fourteen Months

At fourteen months you:

-Can point out eyes, nose, hair, tongue, teeth, belly, belly button, toes, foot, ear, eyes, and mouth. You can also name almost of these except for tongue and belly button.
-Are into everything. You are another little monkey like Gracie was. You love to grab crayons and try to scribble on everything.
-Are very into pretending to poop. You actually have ran to the bathroom and pooped on the potty a few times so far. If Gracie is going or anyone mentions poop you make grunting noises. Crazy baby.
-Are starting to transition to sleeping in your crib. Daddy took the side rail off the crib and put it next to my side of the bed. I still put you to sleep in the living room, and then I try to lay you in your crib. If the lights are still on and I am in the room you usually stay asleep in your crib for an hour or so (your max has been four hours-from 11-3, part of that with the lights off).
-Are in mostly size 12 clothes with a few hand me down 18 month outfits. Your shoe size is 3 or 4 depending on brand.
-Your hair is starting to grow lots. It is mainly white blond with a little hint of orange. I love to put your hair in two sticky up pigtails and everywhere we go people comment on it.
-Love, love, love your sister. You call her "GeeGee" most of the time. You smile and laugh and want to play with her (especially at night after she goes to bed).
-Lay your head on my shoulder and snuggle in when I ask for a hug. You also give kisses. So precious.
-Talk all the time. Common words/phrases: "I need my bobby", "I need a bite," here, Sissy, Mama, baby, my baby, milk, shoe, Mimi, hi.
-Hold play phones, calculators, remotes, etc. to your ear saying, "Hi. Hi. Hey. Baby."
-Love your baby dolls, stuffed animals, play phones, and balls.
-Are a very good eater. Some of your favorites: grapes, watermelon, peaches, mandarin oranges, crackers, deli meat, noodles, Oreos.
-Love to see other babies (as long as Mommy isn't holding them). You call every other baby you see a "bad baby" though.
-Meow and follow Sissy/Dolly/Katie around the house. You can also Woof for doggies.
-Love Sesame Street, especially Cookie Monster, Elmo, and Narf.
-Dance and sway to all kinds of music.
-Love books with pictures of babies, animals, and things you can touch. You are a big fan of the Grandmama and Grandpa Richard book just like Sister was.
-Get cuter and cuter and smarter and smarter every single day.

Night Night

We (by we I mean I) have started to transition Ruby D into her crib. Andrew took the side rail off and put her crib against my side of the bed. So far Ruby D is not a fan. I can lay her on the couch or bed next to me after she falls asleep, but when I put her in her crib she automatically starts to stir and lift her head. I have limited success with patting and shushing. Last night she slept for about two hours in her crib and actually shifted around a little and was able to stay asleep. As soon as I had the lights off and she woke up she was not having it. We have just started the process though, so I know it's going to take a long time. My clingy Mama's baby.

Gracie showing Ruby how it is done. The yellow baby is what Gracie slept with when she was little. She also greatly preferred the soft fuzzy pink crib sheet (Gracie had her own sleep problems, but she did go to bed in her crib every night at around 8:30 from six months on).

"Come on Sister, get under the covers with me."

"Hey Ruby D D! Get back in here."

"NO!"

Sisters

Gracie wants to be the tooth fairy for Halloween, and she has requested that Ruby be a tooth. Oh lord. Those girlies. They are quite a pair.

I Love a Rainy Night

Messy baby love

Waiting for our food at Sonic.

Lots of swinging and sliding going on in this cool weather.
Hello beautiful girl
Rainy chilly days are perfect for baking and cuddling under the covers. Gracie, Ruby, and I all take a nap together in my bed. Gracie still sleeps for around two hours so I know she is nowhere ready to give it up. I usually read until both girls are asleep and then get about an hour in. I heart naptime. I don't make Gracie nap in her own bed, because she sleeps better/longer with me, she doesn't have problems sleeping in her bed at night, she can get herself to sleep on her own, and I like to have both my girls with me. Ruby D still wants to breastfeed right after she wakes up from nap or she gets CRANKY. Right now she is mad, because we are waiting on the blueberry muffins to cool. Later today I told Gracie we could make brownies, and I am thinking of pulling the bread machine down for the first time this year. I can't wait for the Covered Bridge Festivals (it doesn't have to rain for that though) and the leaves changing color. Fall is my favorite.

My Girls

A few more notes about Ruby D:

-When you are really hungry or clingy you point at my chest (or pull my shirt down) and say, "I need boob." I always thought that when you were old enough to ask for it then it was time to be weaned, but I've never heard of a thirteen month old who could speak in sentences.
-You love suckers. They are probably your very favorite treat. You try to steal them out of your sister's mouth, and you start hyperventilating when we are unwrapping one to give it to you.
-You love bare bellies. You get so excited when my or sister's shirt raises up and you see our bellies. You also hate wearing onesies.
-You are just as talented as Gracie when it comes to making messes. Oh my! You love to rip up the toilet paper roll, carry crayons everywhere, undress your babies, and tear clothes out of Gracie's drawers.
-You are in size 12 month and size 3 shoes. I think you will probably still be in 12 months clothes for the fall and maybe a size 4 shoe. You are starting to love shoes just like your sister.

What Gracie has been up to:

-Coloring and stickering everything.
-Reading my Emily Mouse books.
-Asking for cheese, kiwis, and crackers (Harvest Grain are her favorite) for lunch every day.
-Flipping and tumbling all over the house (and on the beds, couches, etc.)
-Fighting with Sister over the Gabbas.
-Loving old Sesame Street episodes.
-Dancing to Taylor Swift.
-Getting way into Hello Kitty.
-Wanting to wear nail polish and make up (she likes blush and glitter eye liner)
-Being a sweetheart.
